Memorial Biography

Tina Garza (67) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones Tuesday February 20, 2018 at Sugarland Methodist Hospital. Tina was born March 24, 1950 to Santurino and Dorothy Cuevas in San Antonio, Texas. She attended and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1969; during this time is when she met her best friend and life-long sister Dalia Deleon. While there, she also dated Robert Garza who 6 years later thru fate and a blind date would turn into the love of her life. Tina and Robert married on January 20, 1974 and their journey began. She and Robert moved to Fort Davis Army Base in Panama. Tina spent her time learning the culture through food and crafts. During their time in Panama, they welcomed their first son Shawn. Three years later the family returned home to San Antonio where Tina prepared herself for her future career. Tina began at Central Distributing where she met three of her dearest life-long friends, then advanced her career by transitioning to Beldon Roofing Company. During her tenure at Beldon, Tina developed an interest in the legal field, which inspired her to pursue a career as a paralegal. In 1985 Robert and Tina grew their family again by welcoming a second son, Adrian. Shortly thereafter, the family relocated to Portland, Texas where Tina continued her legal career while raising both boys. In 1996 the Garza’s came to Sugarland, Texas; the place she would call home for the next 22 years. Beginning in 2005 until her retirement Tina worked her way up to MSA Director with Enervest. One of the highlights of Tina’s life came in December of 2006 when her first grandchild Krystiana was born. Throughout her 67 years, Tina lived a full and adventurous life. She and her family traveled to multiple destinations, some of her favorites where St. Thomas, Hawaii, and Alaska. Tina’s legacy will be her loving and giving nature. She made sure her family never went without and if anyone was ever in need Tina was always there to lend a helping hand, ear, and heart. Tina will be deeply missed by many. Tina is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Cuevas, father Santurino Cuevas, and her sister Virginia Garcia. Tina is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert Garza, her two sons Shawn Garza (Kristy McClinton) and Adrian Garza (Keri Roesler), granddaughter Krystiana Garza, sisters Eva Carter and Rosie Cuevas (Ceasar Diaz), and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many many friends. Services for Tina are as follows: Rosary and viewing: Monday, February 26 at 6:30-8:30 pm at Sugarland Mortuary 1818 Eldridge Sugarland, Texas 77478 Followed by Catholic Mass: Tuesday, February 27 at 10:30 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church 705 St. Theresa Blvd. Sugarland, Texas 77498 In lieu of flowers the family requests you make an “In memory of” Tina Garza donation to the American Diabetes Association https://donations.diabetes.org
